Hey im new to pufferfish and I was wondering what type of filtration you guys would recommend on a 75gal with 6 amazon pufferfish (the cheaper the better im on a budget) thanks in advance.

I would DEFINITELY recommend the Marineland Polishing Internal Filter. I have one in my 55g, and it's been running perfectly for about 4 years now. I just have to clean it and replace the media about twice a year. Best internal filter I've ever owned.

When it comes to cheap filters the Penguin 350b fill the bill. Can be had on sale for $25 and rated for 70 gallons. Granted I would use two on that 75 gallon tank. While initial cost would maybe be $50 for two of them the lifetime price of cartridges would just add up to quite a bit. For longterm savings on media you could do some custom media in it.

My favorite are the Aquaclear 110. While not cheap they do not require constant media changes and just run and run. The disadvantage is that they are a bit noisy.

I have sworn by Aquaclear filters for over 40 years.

I've had a consistently good experience with the Eheim classic series over the years. Very low maintenance and excellent filtration. They cost more, but it has been worth it.

The Poret foam line of filters is also excellent if you wanted to do a sponge filter in addition to the Aquaclear HOB. Swiss Tropicals online is my source for these. I have at least one of the versions of these in all of my tanks as a backup in case the power goes out. (We can't run the canister filters with our generators, but we can run air pumps, so this way my tanks still have some filtration in case of a power outage.)
