I can't comment about the meaning of treating with these medications for the reason you mention, but I have treated Dwarf puffers with API General Cure with no problem at all...

Actually I deleted this post because I have found the answer not to worry about it but seems like this post is still here so I might as well share the answer with others. I found the answer from this youtube vide
