Hello All
I have a 47 gallon Bowfront planted Aquarium with a 2.5" schoutedeni puffer.
Tank mates are a leopard stripe Pleco, a Female Bristlenose Pleco 6 silvertip tetras, and 6 ember tetras
Tank is fully cycled and is about 3 months old, everything everyone doing great, I just got an RO system
to help tweak my parameters, my PH was up near 7.5 or so,,
other than that life is good
He ONLY eats frozen Bloodworms and of course the ramshorn snails I put in there. I also feed him frozen krill which he will munch on but doesnt wolf it down like he like Bloodworms
Just wanted to say hi and want to explore the forum

[welcome]
Nice looking tank! I like the bubbles coming out of the stump.
I wouldn't worry about the pH, it's fine.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your puffer! Does it have a name? I really love my schoutedenis. They are so much fun and each have their own personalities. Beautiful tank!
Welcome! This forum is a great place!

Just from having had this same debate myself, I wouldn't add more than one more to a 47g for a total of two. I'd also add them at the same time or as close to it as possible to keep territories from being established and then infringed upon when the new "interloper" is introduced. I had a bad experience with introducing a second schoutedeni to my 55g after the first had been in there for about 7 months.

Hi, great tank, congrats. Looking to start a 45 gal cube (2 ft each side) with a Schoutedeni Puffer. Want to add in some community fish, any issues with your plecos or tetras? Was also thinking about corys (pgymy?). Appreciate this is a little off your topic but trying to gather some data on community tanks with a Schoutedeni Puffer, I have searched the library/threads and some data but spotty on this (possibly reflecting fact that this puffer is a little less common).
Any feedback appreciated, thanks.

All of my schoutedeni in all of my tanks ignore all of their tankmates (corys, tetras, plecos, kilis, upsidedown cats etc) except each other. Never had a single puffer-related casualty. If anything, they are too shy, and the tankmates steal food from them (!).

Hi. Poster from 5/6 above. In brief I have had the same experience, my Schoutedeni Puffer is a good community tank mate. Have 18 runny nose's, 12 corys, 2 German rams, one pleco and one bristlenose. No issues with puffer we see so far (rams are more confrontational with one another than anything else). So fingers crossed, is and will continue working well.

I kept my Schoutedeni with just about anything and he did fine. One thing I will tell you to look out for is the silvertip tetra's fin nipping him. They are feisty little things and I had to pull them out of his tank.
