I know the common consensus is that they are inactive and dont need a large tank but it seems the extra space makes them more outgoing? Just a theory... but both my lurker puffers are pretty active

It's just hard to scape and keep room. I'm going Thursday to see if I can find smaller pieces of driftwood.

Cool that you have access to good driftwood.

Yeah, it can be tougher to aquascape a smaller tank. I have a large piece of Mopani in my 300 that I want to use in the 65 instead but I would need to cut and sand it to fit.

This is the piece I want to move

Not a whole lot to report. Suvattii is eating part of a night crawler daily. He is viciously tearing it apart and eating but leaves lots of parts lying around and does not go after them. I think he would prefer smaller food items but is at least eating well.

On another note he may have a name.... I based it off a few things. Unique head marking, pointed head shape, digs, bad attitude, bold, all these reminded me of another animal, a badger. So I think I have the name for the Suvattii, it is officially named ‘Badger’.

That's just a suvatti being a suvatti. They eat like a wood chipper. You should see what they do to a live fish. Im doing three 1/3+ wc's a week right now after every feeding. I really should of put it in a bigger tank. It could foul up the 20 quick.

I wish I would of thought about drilling these tanks as well. I have a small pump and a small reservoir so hopefully i can stop the bucket brigade. I'm afraid to run my autowaterchange piping due to all the electrical being by the puff tanks

Totally different with the Suvattii and hairy in the way they eat. Good description that it eats “like a wood chipper”... worm guts everywhere. I have not fed any live fish yet but have seen videos and they are hard core.

Yeah that is an aspect of small tanks I do hate especially with messy eaters. The constant water changes... and with buckets at that.

Feel bad, have not had any update pics... lol, still dont.

The Suvatti (Badger) is doing well. Eats one worm a day and make the tank look like a death zone with worm parts everywhere. Still working on the tank decor a bit. I ordered a couple large Mopani pieces, but really dont know what to expect with sight unseen wood pieces. Hopefully usable in that tank. They are supposed to be in this week and then I need time to prep them. Otherwise not a whole lot going on.

I ran out of worms to feed and wasn’t going to get more till tomorrow. While I know it really wouldn’t be an issue to skip one day I felt a bit guilty so experiment time... whats in the freezer and will the Suvattii take to just a hunk of meat? Apparently it was hungry, I had some razor clam meat that I thawed and just threw in and it ate it like there was no issue. So the little guy took to it like it had always had it.

The hairy puffer got a piece and just gave me stink eye and just kept circling the clam meat. I left and came back about 15 minutes later and it was gone. Hunger won out and it ate it too.

Sometimes its tough to try and find something a litte different to feed. My hairy used to eat shrimp in the shell and now it wont touch it. Still eats krill and worms. I need to think outside the box and try to vary their diet a bit more.

My stinker hairy won't eat anything but live worms.

all of mine seem to be happy to eat defrosted shrimp/clams/cockles

I can't claim any credit, they all seemed to have been 'pre-weened' before they arrived..

My suvatti is a royal pain to feed. The congo will tear up smaller worms but that's it

My Suvattii has been pretty easy to feed. It continues to eat the cut up razor clam strips. I want to try shrimp meat on it now.... It does seem like it will eat anything that hits the water. The hairy totally gave me attitude with the strips of clam meat and just let it fall on his head and ignored it. I peeked in on him later eating it but he was toward the back of the tank doing it in secret, lol. My local Petco was completely out of worm and I have not had a chance to go to another store that carries them so the fish have had freezer food for the last couple days.

Not a whole lot to update but the suvattii is doing well. It does not bury itself as often and seems out a lot.

I got a nice large piece of Mopani wood for his tank that I am trying to soak some tannins out of it right now so a big change to his tank will happen soon. Need to find some more rocks too. Will post pics of that when it happens.
