Significance of dark marks on puffer's face?

Hi All,
Two of my puffers have developed very dark marks near their mouths/noses and a third has one under her eye. I'm wondering if it's bruising (can puffers get bruised in the traditional sense?) or a bacterial infection or something else?
A fourth puffer has what looks to be an injury on its back.
I don't know if any of these are related or if none of them are anything, and I'm worrying about nothing. I'm posting photos but have to do it under separate posts.
I did a water change last night and dosed the tank with Melafix this afternoon. Everyone is eating decently, although a few of them seem more skittish than usual.
I welcome any thoughts on causes and what to do.
Thanks!!
