Significance of dark marks on puffer's face?

Hi All,

Two of my puffers have developed very dark marks near their mouths/noses and a third has one under her eye. I'm wondering if it's bruising (can puffers get bruised in the traditional sense?) or a bacterial infection or something else?

A fourth puffer has what looks to be an injury on its back.

I don't know if any of these are related or if none of them are anything, and I'm worrying about nothing. I'm posting photos but have to do it under separate posts.

I did a water change last night and dosed the tank with Melafix this afternoon. Everyone is eating decently, although a few of them seem more skittish than usual.

I welcome any thoughts on causes and what to do.

Thanks!!

I just think it's their spots.

^agreed

My Duboisi's spots change from light grey to dark black depending on mood/surroundings. I wouldn't be surprised if they lighten up soon

Thanks Pufferpunk and pufferjw, what a relief, good to know. I was wondering if it could be just their spots coming in, but was concerned because the one spot is so much darker in comparison to the other spots on the rest of their bodies. Sorry to be overprotective- will feel a lot better once they're bigger and the plants have grown in. They're only been here about 2 weeks, so I'm still in over-concerned mode. Thanks again!

You're welcome, and no problem
