How to feed dwarf puffers on vacation

Post by pufferBOI »

I have 3 dwarf puffers,an amano shrimp, and the temporary small Siamese flying fox in a ten gallon aquarium. I will soon be leaving on an 8 day vacation and want to know how to feed these guys. I will have automatic feeders on all my other tanks because they eat flake food, but not the puffers. I am planning on taking out the flying fox and putting him in a different tank. No one will be in the house within this time period. I am wondering what I should do to keep these round critters fed. My plan is to unleash an army of scuds and some snails into the aquarium. Is this a good idea? More importantly, will the puffers be fed throughout the days?

See if they'll eat freeze-dried plankton.

Possibly but I would just set it to feed every other day.

I'm not using the automatic feeder for the puffer tank, only my other tanks. I'm wondering if putting a bunch of ramshorns and scuds/amphipods in the tank will lead to fed puffers or, ummm..., over fed.

Puffers have been known to eat until they split open.
