Oh ok lol I am just paranoid because of the last puffer I had, since that one for some odd reason had an overgrown chin and then it turned in fungus

The reason why my previous Duboisi puffer passed away is because I thought the overgrown chin would go away and it become normal and I would not have to treat since no one knew about what was going on with the puffer unfortunately, everyone was saying that it was cancer, so it then turned into fungus around the chin and I tried to treat it, but nothing was working at all. I am really happy that I have a second chance at keeping this puffer again, and so far I have been using PraziPro to deworm him and he is really happy right now with the best colors that I have ever seen.

I'm really wondering about Duboisi becoming available; it seems like people were thinking they were gone in the wild as of recently (wikipedia still says they're extinct!) If they're only endemic to Stanley's Pool (which is basically a lake in the lower-middle of the Congo River), one would hope the scant number they found don't just get fished to extinction over the next couple of years.

Hopefully someone will know how to start breeding them in captivity soon, so that it doesn’t affect the population in the wild just like the Schoutedeni puffer, they were not in the hobby for a while, but now starting to become available on a regular basis because some of them are bred in captivity, the reason why it says that it is extinct is due to the fact that the area the Duboisi Puffer comes from is dangerous and not a safe area to peacefully try to catch and also research about the Duboisi Puffer.

As we all know, Wikipedia is a great source for many things but not authoritative in all things. Species are not considered to be extinct because proper data cannot be gathered on them due to danger to humans performing that fieldwork. Species are considered extinct after an exhaustive process determined there has been no evidence of their existence in their known natural habitat for an extended period of time. If this process has not been followed to determine a species' status, the species is appropriately categorized either as "Data Deficient" or "Not Evaluated." The IUCN Red List is the globally recognized authoritative source for this type of data, and the IUCN Red List categorizes the T. duboisi as "Data Deficient" in 2009: http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/181751/0. Having said that, because there is very little data on them, it's of course possible that they could be on the verge of extinction, and we would not know.

How do duboisi compare to schotdenti in terms of temperament and personality?

I would say hat the Duboisi is more aggressive, but the Schoutedeni will just nip but not kill lol the Duboisi is a more curious puffer at times an will explore more, and try to bite you, but mine is really nice, I have a clouded archer and he has left him alone since I put him in the tank p, it really depends though, sometimes the puffer is aggressive and sometimes it isn’t.

T. Duboisi is FAR more aggressive than than T. Schoutedeni. My Duboisi kills anything I put with it, including a C. Multispine twice its size. In my experience, the T. Duboisi and the T. Miurus are the absolute most aggressive freshwater puffers.

Yeah that is true Duboisi and Miurus puffers are the most aggressive puffers in the Freshwater hobby, they will crush up anything they can, even if it is bigger then them.

I forgot to mention this, but keep in mind that there is always a chance of securing a more passive individual, such as the one owned by Adam. However, before you get a Duboisi, I would implore you to understand that despite being voracious eaters they are not as exciting as most other puffer species.
