Snowflake Puffer - 'Arothon firmamentum'

Hi all,

I was at a LFS and running through their current 'import list'.

The above name fish appeared on the list, available at about 6-7 inches long.

I have looked through google and can find next to nothing about this fish other than it may well be marine (and not freshwater as 'advertised').

Does anybody know anything more about this fish?

They also had the following two that I could find very limited information about:

Monotretus turgidus
Tetraodon cochinchinensis

Any info about these would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe it's the "Dalmation" dogfaced puffer?

I'm not sure about the Arothon Firmamentum other than it is a marine species native to Australia. In terms of the other two, Monotrete Turgidus is essentially a larger version of Tetraodon Cochinchinensis, and they have very similar care requirements. Here's a link to info on caring for Tetraodon Cochinchinensis: https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/t ... chinensis/

Turgidus are lurkers and very boring imo! I had three that I sent to someone else on the forum cause they’re just vicious little things that sit around if they’re not chasing some fish away

Mine greets me at the glass every time I walk up to his tank!
