Bloodworm stuck in dwarf puffer's mouth?

Post by Pufferly7 »

I just fed my puffers their bloodworms, went about my business, and then came back to see if they'd finished. One of them seems to have a bloodworm husk stuck in its mouth, but I'm not sure. I got some pics, but I don't know how to attach them.

You have to post your pics at Image Shack & link them here. The worm should get unstuck eventually.

Ok, well the puffer wasn't looking good, with a dark belly and fast breathing, so I did a water change and scooped it up to see if maybe I could pull out the worm, but while it was in the cup the worm came loose. I'll keep an eye on it just in case.

Lol you were right :D
About 50% every week and then a gallon or two whenever I think it's necessary. The water change I did was just to bring down the level a bit (and get leftover blood worms out) so I could catch the puffer more easily.

This has happened to one of my guys overnight too. Picture attached.

Does anyone know if the best thing to do is just leave it til it falls out? (My WC schedule is on point!). She seems to be chasing other food and swimming just fine so I don't want to scoop her out and traumatise her if it's not necessary.

I've attached a photo. Any help much appreciated!

How long has it been stuck? If you don't want to bother the puff, then let it work it out itself as it would do in the wild. Are there no others that can try to "steal" it from him?
