Dwarf puffer eating disorder

Post by Tobias »

Hi!

I have a dwarf puffer that seems to have some problems with keeping the food in.
I have 3 in total and they all eat well, and get big tummys whenever i give them bloodworms. The problem is that one of them often seem to vomit almost everything up after a short while. The other two doesn't so I'm guessing the food itself is okay.
I have tried mixing it up a little with micro-worm, shrimp-eggs, mussels, black mosquito larvae and daphnia.
They also get the occasional snail, but he rarely takes interest/is quick enough to catch them.
Live micro-worm seems to be the best so far, but he looks a bit skinny so I'm guessing it's not that nutritious.

My question is then, what can i do?
Do i have to start hatching artemia?

[welcome]
My guess is he has IPs, which have filed his stomach. If you can get him to eat anything, be sure it's soaked in meds, 1st. I'd treat all the fish in that tank.

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Thanks for the reply!
I have treated them with Prazipro earlier, but not by giving it directly through feeding.
All the fish in the tank eats bloodworms so I guess i could dose that.
Do you think i should add Prazipro to the tank in addition to the food?

FW fish do not drink water, so dosing the tank is a waste of meds.
