Well that's werid, doutbful he would have decomposed that quickly. Means there's still hope... granted that may not be a good thing. I bought mine from exoticfishshop.com. Honestly, I wouldn't give up on the species; I would err on the side that the fish were bad and that's why you lost them all as opposed to just bad luck.

Re: Schoutedeni, SAP or Irrubesco dilemma
I do have to say, the supplier has been super nice about it. Even though my plecos died 2 weeks later (they were VERY $$$, 1 was >$600), he refunded me 1/2. I just informed him about the puffers & here's what he said:
"How about this. I’ll get you a bunch of fish Plecos. Cory. Cichlids. Silver dollars. Etc. just pay for shipping and a slight cost or some may be free, So you can restock your tank
I would bend over backwards for some people
I always have extra fish that i sell and have extra.
I can’t house them all properly. But you would probably provide them a good home"

@pufferpunk - did you find the exoskeleton or anything of the third one in the end? What did you decide with the seller in the end?
I have an exciting update that just received confirmation the oddball specialist contacted have sourced two for me! They will be getting them Thursday, they will need to go through quarantine and then perhaps they will be here New year!
Also had 100 ramshorns and tadpole snails arrive so that is underway

Yea for you!
Yes, I ran water through one of the decorations with small holes in it that smelled awful. The rotting body came out. I'm not even going to consider more fish until after winter.

God that's sad. I'm a bit scared about getting one if they are fragile.

Sorry to hear that Pufferpunk Hope the new year brings much better things.
I'm currently having a hard time with my cycle and tetras and trying to think the best way to move forward....

So sorry to hear the last one ended up dead Pretty awesome the seller is going to help restock your tank like that. Holy crud on the pleco though! I'd be heartbroken if I lost a $600 dollar fish. I find the higher the value, the more time I invest in ensuring everything is ready.

The few I’ve spoken to with lots of experience with them said they’re easy to maintain with a diet of snails
I noticed mine would rather eat snails over anything else

Yes pretty much they’re an earthwormlilacamy931 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 1:06 pm @PUFFWHO? - oh wow thank you for sharing - they are very cute! Gorgeous markings. I have ordered one today so watch this space! Love to see their permanent tank set up when sort out, they are beautiful.
Not come across nightcrawlers before from what I can see they look similar to earthworms?
So I'm not trying to over shoot on bioload or anything but thinking this:
14-16 neon tetras
6 gold tetras
1 bolivian ram
1 schoutedeni puffer
2-4 zebra plecos.
I decided to keep mine alone because I will attempt to breed them eventually
F1’s are currently available in Germany

Re: Schoutedeni, SAP or Irrubesco dilemma
So Far my experience with them
They hated tank mates. Seemed depressed and very aggressive towards each other. Took out the 5 small eartheaters and since they’ve been very active eating a lot more and not aggressive towards each other
They won’t eat anything swimming I’ve tried Endlers and they just ignore them
To get them to eat live crayfish I have to sort of half it for them
Snails is what they want and like most but will eat frozen blood worms and krill
They also love earth worms

Re: Schoutedeni, SAP or Irrubesco dilemma
Was it just the eartheaters you had with them? Perhaps they were being pushed around?
Stocking level will change now as my cycle did not go well over the festive period and we have a blank slate again.
Can't remember if mentioned here now but as they found babies (1 inch) I am getting TWO shoutendeni now! Very excited, we will have to see how aggressive they are towards each other.
Right now, I've been using Aquaclear balls which the LFS advised me to put in and leave for a week, the ammonia levels rose and have died off again. I've put some fish food in to bring ammonia up again and going to monitor if it goes back down.
This week I will get either 4 guppies or 6 cardinal tetras to keep the BB alive. And either next week or more likely week after, my puffs should be arriving.
My eventual stocking will eventually look like this:
2 Schoutedeni
2 zebra plecos
4 fancy guppies
4 endlers
14 cardinal tetras
Snail tank is going so we will at least have live food for them. I will find out how the puffs have been doing in quarantine and what foods they are taking. I must also find the treatment for parasites for when they are here (off to library forum I go)

AHHHHH! The delivery idiot has delivered not to us but someone in the area and can't remember the road name! Right now anxiety through the roof and really hope my puffs are ok. The driver is having to come back to show us where he mis-delivered our fish.

Re: Schoutedeni, SAP or Irrubesco dilemma
@hadia thank you. They *touch wood* seem to be doing ok! They had a prawn dinner last night once I had soaked in garlic. Today they are enjoying crushed ramshorns (though did not realise guppies adore snails!). So really hope these guys are going to be good.
They are going to be named Porg and Chewie and attached are some gratuitous piccies. They are fanning their tails today which always took to be a good sign. In love with them!
