I'm looking for ways besides snails to keep my schoutedeni's teeth trimmed and his diet varied and was wondering if the hikari mussels on the half shell would be too much for him in terms of the shell? I don't want him to break his teeth.
Thanks!

Re: Mussels on the half shell?
Thanks! I couldn't tell if that article meant mussels with or without the shell, so thought I would check first just in case. Thanks again!

You do want the shell, so they scrape their teeth on it when getting the meat out.

Re: Mussels on the half shell?
Makes sense! Unfortunately, I can only seem to find clams on the half shell. Wonder if those would be ok? I don't see them listed as food in the forum library list.

Yes, clams are on the list. I suggest finding your puffer's foods in the produced section of your grocery store. Make sure it's uncooked.

Good idea, thanks for all of the help! Don't know what I would do without this forum!

If you have access to an Asian food market, definitely check it out. The one where I live is great. Cockles, clams, snails, mussels, shrimp. All sort of goodies that most chain stores won't carry.
