Figure 8 Puffer compatibility?
I currently have an order placed on a Firgure 8 puffer I wish to add to my tank. I'm not sure how things will work out, considering I already have 4 Dwarf puffers and 2 Amazon puffers living in there. I have heard that Figure 8s mostly do not get along with any fish, but I believe that it wouldn't kill a friend that it has grown up with. My plan is that since the Figure 8 will be about their size, it will get used to the puffers already in the tank and leave them alone as it grows up. I have seen people keeping a multitude of fish with their Figure 8 puffers, so I guess it's best to find out right? Let me know if there are any things I should know before adding it to my tank. Tanks!

Re: Figure 8 Puffer compatibility?
You will need to set up a separate tank for your F8. It really is a BAD idea to mix ANY puffer species together but especially adding the F8 to your tank, since it requires brackish water. You can set up a 15g or 20 long as FW, add Tetra Safestart to the filter & you will have a cycled tank for the F8. Then, once the parameters look stable for a week or 2, you can start raising the SG by .001/week, until it's reached 1.003-5. Use aragonite sand as the substrate.

please, please, please do not experiment with living thingszombiefetus wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2017 10:58 am yes.. they will 100% harass the snail until it dies and they will eat it, they'd probably also do the same to any other fish species. Puffers don't play well with others.
