South American puffer tank mate
South American puffer tank mate
I'm going to pick up a south american puffer this weekend and I was wondering what would be some good options for tank mates for him. I have read they are one of the least aggressive of puffers. I have a 29 gallon set up for him already cycled. Thank you in advance for your replies.

Quick-moving fish work well. I have Choprae danio, white cloud mountain fish, and a few Gardneri killies in with mine. I also have gossei cories and some super red plecos, but you might not want slow-moving fish in with SAPs in a 29 gallon tank.
For SAPs that are going to be in with other species of fish, I recommend daily feeding. It seems to reduce the amount of fin-nipping.
