Are DP's lonely?

Post by Zornroeschen »

HI guys,
I am a newbie and am currently researching everything about Dwarf Puffers.
I can't wrap my head around the idea that it is best to keep them alone. Aren't they lonely or bored? If it's best to keep them alone, why do people still recommend 2-3?
I am planning on getting a 60l tank, 61,5 x 34 x 43 cm.
I want to do what's best and if this means only one Puffy then I am fine with it. But I kinda want two. Just because I think one will be lonely.

Thank you
Angie

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Welcome :) if you want multiple dps, it's best to go with at least three or more from my experience. If you have 2, one is more likely dominate and the other suffers. If you only get one, it's really hard to feed one tiny fish if you have no other tanks or creatures that eat the same food (frozen, live, etc) :/
Never trust big puffers. The fingers you save may be your own. -RTR

Also, be sure you only keep 1 male/3 females or all females. Heavily-decorated tank is a must!
