Tetraodon Schoutedeni
Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
Mine have the same feeding habit. My puffer loves snails and frozen blood worms but not too much fan of freeze dried krill. -_-
Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
Anyway.... Can someone please give information on what to look to determine the gender of Tetraodon Schoutedeni..

Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
I don't think anyone is sure on how to tell them apart... :/
Never trust big puffers. The fingers you save may be your own. -RTR
Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
For those of you who have these guys, what other fish do you have with them, and how long have they been together?
Have you seen any aggression?

There should be someone who breeds them. ='(

Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
I know that I have talked to a fish store in Connecticut called World Wide Fish and Pets, the owner found a guy in China that breeds these fish in captivity.
Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
I have some Cardinal tetras, Black darter tetra, and pseudomugil luminatus, and some Corydoras with the puffer. No aggression towards other fish. Small fish tends to stay away from the bigger fish anyway. My puffer is definitely the alpha of the tank.
Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
Dang.. I hope that person who breeds them is on this site so that he can give us some insight about the difference in appearance.. =(

Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
You can call the store, he will tell you all about them, and if he gets them in he only charges like $15.99. I could have waited but did not want to, I had to get the wild caught one.

Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
It's for the Schoutedeni puffer, but I was shocked to hear that he was giving one of the most rarest puffers for a really good price. I think there might be a difference with the attitude with wild caught and captive bred.
Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
Thanks for the input! Have you had to do any dentistry?
I have read somewhere, can't remember where, that they used to be much more common as they were bred quite a bit. Then it was hard to get wild ones due to issues in the Congo, so maybe more CB ones will be available and drive the prices down again....?

I have mine in with a red pleco, some Sterbai corydoras, and long fin white clouds.

Thanks!
Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni
I haven't tried that yet. I made sure that my puffer gets enough snails on his/her diet. I really don't want to do dentistry.. =)magpie wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2017 11:42 pmThanks for the input! Have you had to do any dentistry?
