Tetraodon schoutedeni "Spotted Congo Puffer"

Post by stew1818 »

I am looking into buying a Tetraodon schoutedeni "Spotted Congo Puffer" but can't seem to find much info about them.... Is there anyone on the forum that has one that can shed some light? Minimum tank size? What do you feed them? Aggressive? tank mates?

How are they different than a Hairy Puffer or Amazon Puffer? How big do they get?

I know I know lots of questions :)

Anything help and thank you so much

Merry Christmas

Good luck in finding one. They haven't been sold in the US in over 20 years. A few have shown up in Europe, for a hefty price.

probably not a bad price, if it's indeed a "Schoutedeni"

You don't find that to be a stiff price for not such a unique-looking fish?

rare things command a high price

I've had one for almost a year now and I don't find him to be that aggressive. He only killed two fish on me and lives with platies. I just bought another one from the wet spot and they are getting along fine together. I was able to get them eating carnivore pellets.
