hey guys,

i'm new here. I have just got 2 SAP's and loving them so far, plan is to cycle my other tank and have a species only tank. At the moment they are in with some community fish and are only about half inch in size. The LFS advised i feed them bloodworm daily and i have been breeding hundreds of snails in a seperate tank to feed them. I dont like to keep pestering the shop so i thought it might be worth asking you guys for advise . how much bloodworm will 2 need a day, half a bloodworm or quater a cube? when i threw in half a cube the whole tank got a good feed at it as there was so much so i'm thinking maybe throw in less so only the puffers get some .
also at what size should i start throwing in the snails ? i have some tiny snails and also have some pretty big ones bigger than the puffers .

any advise would be great, hopefully i get the new tank up and running soon

If you don't feed a 90% diet of snails, expect to be doing dentistry work on them every 4 months.

Are snails the best for grinding their teeth down and how easy is it to breed enough snails to feed say 3 adults?

I breed apple snail in a 50ltr tank. Keeping the water fresh the produce more than enough to feed a couple of SAPs. I also have cherry shrimp breeding with them. Gives the puffer something to chase every so often

+1 to feeding snails. They will take the easy option of soft food if given the chance. I recommend getting their tank cycle and ready asap to avoid performing dentistry. Welcome to the forum
