Pics of the new golden puffer

Post by 1st timer »

So, he hangs out in this corner pretty much all day. Hasn't eaten anything. Have him for 3 days now. Prior to buying him,he was eating he was eating carnivore sticks or something. Swims a bit. I turned on the powerhead to force him to move a bit.

I would put a TON more decor in there for him. He doesn't feel safe in there.

Petsmart has some nice fake wood decor. I'd go with live plants, too.

Agreed, I hate fake decor. I would add a LOT of annubias, it's a great lowlight plant. Also, if you can afford it Id put a small mangrove stump inside, they're usually around $200 but look so cool, I have one in two of my tanks. If you want larger plants and stuff they can hide in, I'd recommend some Amazon swords and spiderwood.

Hard to say, but more likely than not he should. Like most puffers, especially goldens and amazons, their diets should consist mostly of snails.

Are the teeth anywhere near needing a trim?
