Left cichlids for puffers

Post by Galen1 »

I introduced myself a while back. Bred a bunch of Lake Tanganyika and Victoria cichlids, most of them endangered/critical CARES species. Now I am mostly done with cichlids and have fallen in love with puffers.

I started with a new T. palembangensis before Thanksgiving last year. I added a Takifugu ocellatus to my collection (separate tank, of course) about a month ago. Today I got my T. baileyi (in quarantine now). They are named Lepton, Boson, and Hadron, all subatomic particles... :hyper: :

After a big meal - check out the lopsided belly:

Not the best pic, but hey, I'm new:

Very nice fish you have there
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Thanks! Already the hairy puffer is more outgoing. My local club supplier delivered him in an orange 5 gal bucket with lid because he said he had bitten through 5 bags...I'm glad he has lots of "hair".

Slightly better pic of the hairy puffer. He has been eating like a pig.

...on the question of quarantine length for a FW puffer before he goes into the main tank with a divider?
