PufferPedia made the comment they were rare and expensive but I thought there would be more forum members who had them. I had seen tons of videos online and had felt the hairy was a lot more common.

They dont come around that often in my area. I have seen one at a local shop that was probably a full grown but not very hairy. Most likely a trade in. Then I saw one when I visited Portland Oregon. I did end up having to order mine from the Portland store but they also had more than one available to ship. I generally see Congo's, Fahaka pretty regularly along with the dwarf, GSP's and figure eights. Ive only seen an arrowhead up in my area once.

Now it really does make me feel 'special' to own my little Scruffy.

Oddly, they seem to be more common over here. They stock them at my LFS now, they fell in love with Piggy whilst he was in quarantine

Not they are bad but here are two example from the PufferPedia of almost 'hairless' Monotrete Baileyi

Not sure if anyone knows... was there confirmation of sex on these? Since it is believed that the amount of 'hair' can sometimes be used as a guide for determining the sex.

Maybe it the lack or 'hair' that gives the illusion of bigger eyes. Maybe we should nickname these ones... since they come from the Mekong and are kind of 'hairless', how about 'Mekong hairless' puffers?

Bald hairy puffers? Maybe old age takes it's toll on their hair
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly
