Thanks fellow Washington Westerners, There is a place in Lakewood, Washington (Tacoma) called Aquarium Paradise that will order but sometimes their prices can be steep. There fahakas have been about $100. Although they do have a pretty good variety.

Aquarium Paradise did not give me a good impression when I visited and their prices were very steep indeed. How much are they asking for the SAPs? The ones I see up north is $10-15, but I'd pay the premium price so that I don't have to go around looking for the fish I want :p
Kind regards,

Is it really a nessecity for SAPs to be in groups?
20 gallon: Attempting live plants. AC 50. Small gravel substrate. Current LED Light + set on plant setting 8 hours daily. Driftwood and rainbow stone.

10 gallon: Aqueon Quiet flow 20. Blue pet store gravel. Crown tail betta (walmart rescue).

Digging deep to find this one. Bedscien will be happy that someone else is necro-threadding.

Yes SAPs need to be kept in groups.

Glad I read this post... I got my sa puffers from a friend moving away, never had them before. Read up on them as I really want to do the best I can for them... Good job I did and I'm glad I found this forum as my friend told me to just feed them frozen blood worms every second day... Nightmare. They seem to be doing well, I gave them snails three days after i got them. Sorry to be a total newbie and for asking a silly question but how can you tell if their teeth are over grown?

So is it the sap puffer on the left that has overgrown teeth, and the one on the right is normal?

My Puffers: I don't have any puffers yet but I really really really want one!
Of course I'd have to make sure I have enough money and enough knowledge and supplies to properly care for one!

Hey pet store employee, thanks for this forum I needed help with SAPs- we have two in store.
A customer was inquiring about getting one for his cycled dwarf puffer species only 20+ g tank (and one pleco), any concerns about this? What about keeping them alone vs in a group or just two? Thanks!

Would it be a bad idea to just keep 8 or so SAPs in a 125 gallon? I've read some websites saying that you want at least 6 if you want to keep them together. I was thinking that or 1 fahaka, but I don't particularly enjoy dealing with large amounts of fish poop. That's why I want to switch from my 10inch jaguar to puffers. Since I've had one SAP before and it was absolutely delightful. Definitely my favorite fish of all time so far. Currently with 6 tetras and two gouramis and it's super playful and not aggressive at all. If anything one of the corys were aggressive towards it.

Deals are everywhere for the SAP puffers!

With all the money one could save, buy two of the heaters that would be a great fail-safe for such a precious fish.

Aqua imports in Colorado had a couple when I was there on Saturday. They seem to be getting a lot of puffers in lately.
