Got a call today about rehoming a sap, he is about 2" and a singleton. I know they should be kept in groups but he is coming on his own. How can I keep him entertained? Any good links to dentistry articles? Also was thinking about keeping him with some rasporas as like dither fish, how risky is this? Any other info or personal experiences would be great. He will start out in a 25g until I decide what to do, there are lots of plants going in and lots of decor with open swimming space, filtration comes in the form of 2x eheim eccos and an eheim 2028 which was going on my fahaka tank but needs must lol

When I had a SAP he would like to play in the water stream from a powerhead

Cool, I don't see flow being a problem but have a powerhead at the ready anyway, it's a sun sun bought 2 for the main tank but the fahaka decided he no like and started biting them so I took them out lol

He's here and settling in nicely, doesn't seem too stressed. There are plenty of snails to keep him occupied lol

I hope he settles, it's quite annoying tbh. I have no chance of finding more saps they are so rare here, he is the first I have ever seen in the flesh so to speak. He has my rasporas for companionship. Any ideas to help calm him?

MS222 worked very well on mine.

Then again I was doing their teeth.

That's just how they are--constantly swimming/pacing.

They seem to be rather nervous fish, I'd give him some more time to settle in before worrying much. Perhaps even a couple weeks.

Hopefully he settles in quick, the pacing is driving me mad. I didnt get to see his previous living arrangements or behaviour, I was handed a bag with him in and that was it, I have no background info etc the guy was a tw@

Day 2, still pacing up and down just a bit slower, he may be tired lol. Haven't seen him eat yet but the tank has snails in so he might have done. He has lots to look at but constantly tries to clean the little patch of algae of the side with his nose

He stopped his pacing and had a little swim round, came and looked at me then returned to pacing again, still not seen him eat but his tummy still looks good. Hopefully he is starting to settle
