Last night I transferred my fahaka into my well cycled 6x2x2 tank. I have noticed some small white worms in the water. From a google search I think it's Planaria caused by uneaten food. Before I put him in I did a 60% water change and hoovered the gravel. Is this harmfull to him?
Thanks Mark

Re: Planaria in fahaka tank
Not harmful directly, I would vac daily for the next few days to get rid of any remaining crud, and keep up the waterchanges. I had a similar experience recently on an overfed tank.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Re: Planaria in fahaka tank
How did you cycle the tank, with food?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Yh I will keep up the water changes and hoovering. The tank had been stocked for months with predatory fish and plecs.

Re: Planaria in fahaka tank
Planaria and nematodes are normal tank inhabitants, but visible in the water column or on the glass or substrate indictes a high organic load in the water. Do serial, partials with substrate vacuuming equal to several 50 partials.
