Will Dwarf Puffers eat live foods?
I understand that my question is not very detailed so I will explain more about it this message. So my question is that: Will Dwarf Puffers eat guppy fry, brine shrimp, and tubifex worms?
The reason I asked whether tubifex worms can be fed is because where I live, tubifex is more widly available than blackworms. Also because I don't have the choice to purchase on a online site.
The reason I asked whether guppy fry can be fed is because I have WAY too many baby guppy fry in my other tank. I have no way of getting rid of them so this is my only option.
The reason why I asked whether brine shrimp can be fed is because they sell adult brine shrimp at my lfs for a very very cheap price!
This is my first post to this forum and I have a question about how this forum is set-up. I have seen things such as a puffer fish next to the subject name. The puffer fish may be: RED, RED AND PUFFING UP, RED AND ON FIRE, OR NORMAL What do these mean? Please help me!!!

You could try a guppy occasionally, but it might not be the healthiest for every meal...here read this article on feeding live fish library/feeding/feeders/
They will also eat bloodworms (Frozen) I am sure you could find frozen bloodworms ..
Where are you seeing the red and puffing up stuff? can you post a link?

Yes they eat live foods. I dont think the fry are good for em, some once correct me if im wrong. The shrimp would be good for em and I dont know what the tubifex worms are lol.

Yeah i'm talking about those things...so they mean a new response on a thread?? But what's the difference between a puffing up red or a puffing up blue?

You cant get California blackworms in California? Thats rather odd. My dwarfs loved em. Was the only thing they would eat for the longest time.

Re: Will Dwarf Puffers eat live foods?
Personally, I would not feed guppy fry to my dwarf puffers. I am 100% for feeding live fish to puffers that are meant to eat live fish, but I would not encourage the dwarf puffers to eat the guppy fry. I would stick with the brine shrimp and frozen bloodworm, if you can get them. I'm unsure about the nutritional value of tubifex, maybe someone else can comment on those.

Have you read the list of foods for puffers, in our feeding article? There are several freeze-dried foods for them too.

Re: Will Dwarf Puffers eat live foods?
Dwarf puffers are picky eaters.. try New Life Spectrum small fish formula, live blackworms and live red cherry shrimp if you can get them. They probalby will eat live tubiflex or live brine shrimp, but I don't know how many nutrients are in those, really.
As for the little icons.. let me see. Red and puffed means new post that you haven't viewed yet. Blue and unpuffed means you have seen every post on that thread (or marked them read). If the puffer is puffing up and down, that means its a "popular topic" that a lot of people are posting on in a short time.
The little flames and other icons that are on them sometimes.. when creating a post people can choose a symbol to sort of explain what type of post it is.. question mark, flames, feel good/happy, etc.
