also, i plan on going back to Wilmington this winter (hopefully). i can get more pictures if you want and see if i cant get some "tank" specs. if you can call it a tank and not a mini ocean. you have my permission to use "WOW!" if you want. i can also see if i dont have a better pic somewhere. his eyes alone were the size of tea saucers. amazing! :supercool:

Hey Ash... Great to see you here...

I've never kept a porc (although I plan to some day). I'll update the 'pedia description shortly unless someone else chimes in to the contrary...

I got to hand-feed one of those monsters (at least 3ft) along w/giant turtles, at the Curacao Aquarium--through a hole in several inches of plexiglass. There were sharks to hand-feed in another section.

you HAND FED one? hand fed?! seeing it through several inches of plexi glass was enough to make the blood drain from my face. very cute, but dangerous looking fish. also very curious. my trip back will be to see him and another puffer i missed the first time around. the other puffer wasnt up for visitors.

Jeni,

The hystrix are outside of the "aquarium" now ? When I was there ~4 years ago, there were two on the inside and the sharks and turtles were on the outside.

Here is a pic of me feeding the hystrix and a ray.

That's about when I was there & they were behind the plexiglass wall w/the turtles, not inside w/the rays. Sure wish I coulda been up close & personal w/the puffers like your pic!

Any chance of you joining the WWM Crew in Bonaire in April?
