Picture for Pufferpedia

Post by Terrance »

I just traveled 80miles to check out some huge SW puffers. I'm not sure what kind of puffers they are, but here are the pictures I retrieved:

Add any pictures if you guys like any of them. I also recorded a video of them and will upload to youtube soon after someone IDs each puffer. The puffers looked AMAZING up close and its worth the long drive to see these two puffers. Each are bigger than 1 foot. Maybe 1.5 foot big.
Kind regards,
Terrance

They're gonna grow way bigger than that! Unfortunately we just lost the Tech that might have posted these to the PP. It might be a while...

The striped puffer looked like it was going to eat me. They both are inside a ~90gal tank.

Here's the video:

That's a shame... considering the diodon will grow to 3'. Is this someone's personal tank?

So its a diodon. I was guessing one of them was a Arothron Hispidus and some kind of Takifugu.

I found these little submarines with fins on craigslist. The LFS was probably trying to get rid of these puffers really bad.

IDs:

Arothron hispidus and Diodon liturosus (and it will NOT grow to 3', still big though with around 2' max size).

Both should be fed... much too thin.
