Thinking of preparing for a species of puffer fish

Post by ParkerFishKeeping »

Hello!
I've always wanted some kind of puffer fish ever since I started fish keeping, so I was wondering what kind of puffer I should get. I would easily get a porcupine puffer or a spiny box puffer, but they require a lot of space and I'll eventually go to college. So I have a 36 gallon bowfront aquarium, and it's a pretty strange tank size compared to the standard ones. So, what kind of puffers can live in 36 gallon aquariums? I'm open to freshwater, brackish, and marine. All three are doable for me. I'm gonna also need help with a food source.
I'm going to be busy with school but I'll try and reply as soon as I can :) Thanks for reading.

Welcome!
Will you be moving this tank back & forth to school?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Maybe, I'm going to assume yes.

Can I talk you out of it? That is a good way to lose fish.

Yeah, I might go smaller in college. I thought that might be extremely stressful for the fish depending on what kind. I think I should wait after school to get any puffer that requires lots of care. Would a group of pea puffers work out? If not I understand.

I moved out of the house for about two weeks because my husband was misbehaving and brought my DPs with me. The move killed them.
