Hi there!

Post by Krisonomo »

I just joined the forum and thought I’d drop a quick hello to everyone.

I’m here to lurk for the moment. I do not currently have a puffer but just bought a new tank with the intention of getting a dwarf puffer or two, so I thought I’d join and steal - er, check out - others’ dwarf setups and maybe check with the puffer veterans around these parts before I inadvertently torture some tiny puffers.

I found my way into the hobby via a pair of male Bettas housed in a single cup at Walmart. Like an idiot, I brought home two one gallon tanks... one of the Bettas passed within hours but the other one - Max - will be four come October. Don’t worry, he’s in a 10 gallon now. He was really sick when I got him - torn fins from fighting, fin rot, and velvet. Anyway, he’s a healthy and happy fish now.

There was a huge learning curve, but I think I’m ready to put on my big girl pants and run multiple tanks now. For Max’s well being, I started to learn about aquascaping and as a longtime gardener fell in love with it - in fact, I currently have several pounds of processed cholla wood drying in my yard to prepare for some Amano Shrimp and some MTS (aka puffer treats) for Max’s tank.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with all of you. Have a great week!
