I know it has been a long time but we recently moved back to Japan. I have my 300 gal with me and it is sitting dry at the moment. Life news and update (oldest first):
1)moved to Canada bought a house and land... set up the tanks as you can see in my post history.
2)lost the job thus lost the house and moved into a rental for about 6 years.. only 2 tanks.
3)rental was being sold so had to move again and this time it was Japan. Brought 3 tanks with me but the stand was damaged in the move so I have to rebuild it or fix it.
4)job hunting atm so everything is on hold until we can earn a steady income.
Cheers,
J-P

Re: Holy cow someone is back!
Well... we contacted an international moving company, but they were a tad expensive at that time. So we called a shipping company and they dropped off a container in front of the house. I loaded the container with the heavy boxes and stuff first. Then we contacted our local moving company to load the container with the larger bulkier items. They refused because one of their staff and I got into an issue (totally unrelated) 6 months prior. So we called an out of town moving company which was $$$$ expensive. They wrapped the furniture and loaded up the container. 4 man crew for 4 hours... damn they were fast.Pufferpunk wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 6:05 pm YAY!!!

I sent in the paperwork and the shipping company took it away.
After customs clearance here in Japan the moving company had to hire 2 extra drivers (the stuff could not all fit on 1 truck) so here we are with a 6 man crew. BUT the truck apparently couldn't turn the corner so they basically had to load up dollys and wheel the stuff 2 blocks.
The tank was easier than the stand. The tank was a 4 man job the stand took all 6 guys. I think the damage to the stand happened when it was being wheeled down the street on the 2 dollys. But anyhoo.... It is here and someday I'll have it back up.
BTY we're 10 mins walk from the ocean so free SW!!!

Re: Holy cow someone is back!
3 years ago, I moved from Chicago to SC. It was recommended I sell off my tanks, put the fish in storage (a LFS) & buy new tanks when I got here. That's what I did. Finally got my fishroom! 180g, 120g & I did move the 46g bowfont & smaller tanks here myself. I also took the miurus in my car.

Re: Holy cow someone is back!
nice!! I really wanted to sell the house contents and buy used / new but the family paid to have everything moved... so not my choice.
I am happy you have your fish room back. It would be great to see some updated pics.
Oh.. as a Ps. since we are so close to the ocean, and there are mantis shrimp there.. you can guess what I'll be netting =)

Yep... I'm going to get a vid soon, but there are lots. They are of the stabber (not clubber) type. Once I net a few I'll get the vid and microscope happening.
