Hello Puffer Forum, I am glad I can be here. I am a new puffer owner. Just got a 1.25" GSP from LPS. Still got lots to learn. Please do not hesitate to give me any advise.

Yes, until the fish is brought up to SW conditions with more biological filtration, 50% WC are recommended.

What is the desire PPM for the tank water? The tap water in California is quite hard. Its about 300ppm.
