im using an old guppy tank did a 75 percent water change, about 2 dozen guppies and 3 crays inside now. im using a marineland 29 gal filter, standard lighting, heater, 3 inches of black sand, anacharis, and lava rocks. is there any tips or advice you could give me to improve the husbandry for my puffer? im picking him up today after work:D

Be sure to remove all the inhabitants in there now, before adding the puffer. I'd make that substrate about 25% red gravel, with 75% black sand, to ensure the redness on the puffer, otherwise, it;s going to become very dark. My red miurus was much redder when purchased.

Here he was the day I got him. That plastic plug is 1" across:

Sprinkle the red gravel over the sand?

Mix it in. The puffer will do that anyway & you're going to have to stir that sand weekly.

Depends on how stable it keeps the temperature, but it would be useless if you had to treat him for ick.
My bro in law is Rick Perreira, not sure how many thee are in Mililani.

Non-adjustable heaters are the demise of everything!...Okay, maybe they're not, but I definitely recommend an adjustable one. I lost a whole community tank before just because I didn't have an adjustable heater.
