Hi everybody.

I'd like to ask a favor, could everyone please take a look at your signature lines and make sure they are not very large? Both the text and photos?

We like to keep them around 6 lines or so, and some of the signatures we are seeing lately are starting to be 2-3 times the size of a standard post!

It just helps keep threads condensed and neat looking, instead of having someone's signature line filling up all the space.

Thank you in advance!

1/2 that size would be nice, thanks.

Wasn't yours okay Steel Geek?

I'm more concerned about ones like this...

------------------------------------
10 gallon goldfish

20 gallon figure 8

30 gallon GSP

55 gallon reef

120 gallon fahaka

blah, blah

Blah blah, blah..

And so on and so forth.

Hmm. Was mine acceptable? I edited it to remove the non-fishie family members after seeing this thread.

I think we're basically just trying to avoid excessively long lists and extremely large images.

That's much better! I may be able to help you shave some file size off as well without effecting image quality at all. I'll see what I can do when I get home. ;)

Image 8k vs 28k

If you have an uncompressed original to start with it might be a bit better as well.

So I'm cool to add back my three scaley critters? :)

It would be nice if they each didn't have a line for themselves? Maybe just put a comma in between? That's kind of where it gets obnoxious...

Bumping this up and making it a sticky.

Please try to keep signature line images under 450x100 pixels or thereabouts, and avoid extremely large file sizes. This greatly helps our dial up users! Thank you!

Hello again TPF members!

There have been a lot of people posting very large signature images lately.. so we have enabled a feature of the board that prevents signature images larger than 600x150px (which is still a bit larger than we'd really like to see). We were hoping to not have to do this, but its a heck of a lot easier than the staff trying to email or PM every member who posts too large of a signature line.

This is mainly to help our dial up users, but it also helps keep our pages looking neat and focused on the puffer discussion, not people's signatures.

For those of you who have existing larger signature images, please take a few minutes to scale down your image to be a bit more reasonable..
