Spell checker issues

Post by PetPirate »

The SpellingCow spell checker we currently use relies on an external service provided by SpellingCow.com.

Unfortunately, their server has become increasingly unreliable over the past few days. Users who have had auto spell check turned on in their profiles will have been unable to post during these episodes.

So, in the meantime, I have turned off "auto spell check" in everyone's profiles.

If and when SpellingCow sort themselves out, I will post here. I don't recommend that you re-enable automatic spell checking until then.

In the meantime, if you want an alternative spell checker, check out the Google Toolbar.

Update: If you want a spell checker, you can try out the new "spell check as I type" feature (note: it is not available in quick reply mode).

It's also provided by SpellingCow, but apparently immune from the problems.

The pop-up version is still awaiting some spellingcow lovin' - so please leave it turned off in your profiels for the time being.

Thanks!

Me too.

It doesn't like the Queen's English, so I'm not a big fan of the spell checker
