Server move & forum upgrade

That's right folks, a double whammy!

In order to continue to provide you with the best puffer resource on the 'net, we will be moving servers this weekend. During this time we will also take the opportunity to upgrade the forums to the latest version of phpBB.

During the move, to ensure that everyone can continue to access the site, we will temporarily be using the new domain name http://www.thepufferforum.info . You will be automatically directed to this new name from http://www.thepufferforum.com .

Unless you log on during the few minutes it takes for us to copy all the threads and posts over, you will likely not experience any problems connecting.

However, you should expect the following:

• * auto log-on might not work (you may have to clear your cookies to get it working again)
  * if you have favorites (bookmarks) that point to pages deep within the site, they might not work until we switch back to the .com address.

If you experience any other problems, please feel free to post them in the lounge. If you cannot log in for any reason, please let us know in the guest forum.

The first part is over and, if you can see this, then you are on our brand spanking new host and using the latest version of our forum software.

You should be being seamlessley redirected to our new .info domain. Over the next few days, once we are sure that everyone can see our new host, we will be switching back to our .com address.

Again, please let me know of any bugs (or positive feedback ) in The Lounge.

It's almost 72 hours since the big move.

That means it is almost time to switch back to our primary .com address.

Unless you're posting exactly at the time of the switchover, the change *should* be seamless. The changes you can expect as a result of the switch back are the same as before -- primarily a lack of auto log-in associated with cookie issues.

If you experience log-in issues that don't go away - i.e. the auto log-in doesn't remember you after the first couple of attempts, then Please delete all your cookies! while not browsing TPF. You may need to manually confirm in your cookies folder that the Thepufferforum cookie has been deleted properly.

I don't anticipate any other problems - such as forums disappearing, keyboards breaking, or elephants inexplicably falling out of the sky... but you never know, so if you do find something awry, please let me know about it in the lounge.
