Hello,

I bought a sick green spotted puffer fish. I have "her" in a hospital tank. I have been using Melafix. I have not seen an improvement. I purchased api lifegard and jungle fungus clear can I use this with my new baby? I have started ( only had her for days now ) moving her to a brackish tank by slowly increasing salinity. It is at 1.0004 the pH is 7.4. Are all normal. I do a partial water change daily because she's in a small hospital tank and is a messy eater. Please advise!!!!!

:rip: I'm so sorry! It looks like a bigger problem than just his tail. If you could answer those questions above in red, we could help you better understand what might have happened, in case you might want another puffer.

I am so sorry sweetie, I know it never gets easier losing a beloved puff. He likely had the most comfortable days of his life with you, you have a huge heart for even trying to save her.

Though I do not have enough info to do a thorough diagnosis, I see something very worrisome in the tail- the coloration that starts from the end of his body (where the tail starts) and out into the tail itself, the foggy pink? That is septicemia, which is heartbreaking to say- once this has happens they are all but incurable. Septicemia happens when a pathogen or infection has become blood bound and systemic. I do not believe it was the meds that took her life hun, she had much worse going on inside then we will likely ever know.
