Hi All,
I recently got a great deal on a 125g and am going to do a heavily planted tank with a group of 5-7 t. schoutedeni and corys. I am trying to decide between a Fluval FX5, FX6, or Eheim 2262 for filtration. Thoughts on which I should go with? I have to say, the Eheim is so much more expensive than the Fluvals, I am not sure what to think. Thanks!

I've used Fluval Canister filters for decades until the last one that I bought (design change from previous model).
The redesign is pure garbage, as is their customer service.
Though it's a different model design than the ones you're considering, it soured me on the whole brand.
I'd look toward the Eheim.
If I'm not mistaken, Pufferpunk recommends them too.

Thanks so much for your reply. That is great feedback. I needed the nudge-think I'm going to push the button today and get the Eheim! Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience recently with Fluval. I hope they were able to fix it...

they really weren't able to fix it (though they tried-unsucessfully), as it's a design flaw in the re-design.
their continuous denial of the problem was what soured me on the brand - never again.
a shame too, as the two older ones I use are at least 10 years old, running continuously since new without any problems.

I have been using Eheims for 40 years. Some are still in service!

That's pretty fantastic! Glad I went with the Eheim. It came today, and I'm practically giddy.
