Any particular feeding tongs preferred by those using them?

I use these:

That still places fingers pretty close....

I was thinking of the stainless steel ones used for reptiles something like these:

My hands don't go anywhere near the water now, I just use them to dangle the food in

My little guy comes to the top to feed and then I drop the food in and he goes for it. I was thinking I might need to use tongs when I try a new food on him, but most likely those short ones would work fine to just dangle the food.

+1 to DMD123 & Pufferpunk: I use those as well. Good stainless forceps are $$, but last forever

I ordered some of the long stainless steel ones today. I guess I will be keeping all my fingers.

Once you become accustomed to tongs, they really are so easy to use that you won't be able to get by without them. They are like the Python, basic tank equipment.

So far my little guy will come up and eat without having to 'wiggle' any food in front of him. He considers the falling as prey movement and goes after it. But I can see where tongs could come in handy so I got a set.

I picked up a pair of fluval plant tongs. 1 the angled end helps me pick snails of of my snail tank which is a 15g column 2 my gsp has stopped associating my finger with food ( good to teach him while he is still smallish)

Finger or hand feeding puffers qualify their owners for the Darwin awards. Re-training them protects the owner, but it is better never to have them learn such associations. These are fish which can live a long time. As with kids and land pets, early training matters.
