Filter Floss
I am using alot of fine filter floss/wool at the moment, trying to clear a bacterial bloom. Wondering if the stuff that you buy at arts & crafts places (to stuff cushions/toys etc) would be ok as this could be bought much more cheaply in bulk.
Any thoughts?

Re: Filter Floss
I bought a huge bag of filter floss from the LFS (we don't have a craft store), and I love it. It lasts forever and is so much cheaper than premade cartridges.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: Filter Floss
Its nothing exciting J-P! Just this massive discount store near us, that people travel miles to come to (except us locals, who generally avoid it like the plague!) You can pretty much buy anything & its all under one roof - if you can find it & then join the queues of people to pay for it & maybe if you're lucky, you will be able to find your way out!J-P wrote:maybe you can fill us in?

Re: Filter Floss
Just make sure its not treated to be non-flammable! That stuff is no good for the fish.
If you can find it in the pressed sheets, its even easier to work with than the loose floss

Re: Filter Floss
I don't find the pressed stuff to work as well for my filters.
