Snail Clutch Close up

Post by J-P »

This is from the apple / mystery snail breeder tank. I used the camera flash because I didn't have the hood set up thus the large white dots shining.

Neat photo. How long does it take the eggs to hatch?

I never really checked. I think it is a couple weeks but I have yet to see any live babies. I see the clutch open, but have no idea where the snails went ;) A mystery :D (pun intended)

I'll mark this thread and when they hatch I'll post it :)

I have loads of eggs in the top of one of my tanks. Seems like some hatched out, I had loads of babies and was feeding them to my puffers. I still have loads of eggs, but they don't seem to be hatching out, or if they are, I am not seeing any evidence of baby snails. I still have a large quantity of snails in that tank, but trying to allow some of them to mature and get a bit bigger before feeding them on. Not only that, but a couple have come out very pretty, like iridescent, so I don't think they will be puffer food.

a number of those hatched will escape the tank. some that remain will become prey for other fish and the minority will reach maturity.

When the clutch dries out it tends to hatch. The problem is getting that lid on tight ;)

I bought galss lids for my 55 for 13$ and i needed two. So id try a LFS for a glass cover/s. Some LFS usually carry random sizes. Take the measurements and bring em to the LFS and ask for them
