Revamping my Betta Tank

Post by OCgatergal »

With all the hassle of starting up my saltwater tank, I've decided to redo my betta to a more serene look. Fortunetly the tank is small so buying to gravel to replace to old one is easier.
Anyways, this is the original starting format. I took the pic a while ago, and have painted him a background, but over still the same cheesy look. I got the idea to renovate it, with Petco's sale of 10% off gravel and buy 2 get 1 free plants.

Would you think replacing with black gravel and a forest of live plants would look nice?

I believe you have small mud puddles mixed up with acres of rice paddies.

Black sand and plants ALWAYS looks nice. Bettas look great against black substrate, too.

Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Done! I think it looks beautiful but my parents think its too much. I thought thats what a planted aquarium looks like. Is it too much or are they just not use to an aquatic garden?

Again, I think it looks nice, but my parents think its too crowded, what do you guys think?
PS with the sale on gravel and plants, My total cost from the change was only 10$, meaning, an undecorated tank is unacceptable.

Thank you. Judging by how many plants how many times do I clean this tank or is it the same as before?

How many times do you clean it? :S

If you mean how often do you do water changes, well, once a week is still good... Keep nitrates below 20, like for any other fish. In a lightly-stocked, planted setup like that, you can aim to keep them under 10 - it won't be any harder.
