Guinean puffer "Bubblegum"
- Species: Sphoeroides marmoratus
- Age: in captivity for about 1 year
- Size: almost 7 inches TL
- Right before my trusty LFS closed, they got this bloke in. I've got him in a 50 gallon FOWLR by himself. I may add some soft corals later, but for now, it's just him, some live rock, and lots of macro-algea.

- Brief description - My new puffer in the collection, lives in a 30 gallon tank with some guppy fry.

EDIT: Oh sorry. I was just under the impression that irrubesco had red tails. Sorry.

For the owner of #10, your puff looks more like a female lorteti then irrubesco. Irrubesco females have a red tail, which yours doesn't seem to have.

Nope, irrubesco females don't have a red tail. Just the males The females have beautiful lace-like tails.

Females of the two species are very similar, but female Carinotetraodon irrubesco generally have a ventral surface profusely marked with brown squiggles, whereas the underside of female Carinotetraodon lorteti is more or less entirely plain.

No worries Lil, it can be hard to keep all the species separate in your mind. Especially the red eyes as they can be quite similar with little difference
