Jan 2010 POTM - Winner Announced!!

Post by Myaj »

Off to a late start, my apologies for that!

But here we go, vote for your favorite puffer photo! You may only vote once and you may not change your vote, so vote wisely! Remember, each photo is a link that opens up to the full sized version (other than the last one, the original is pretty small), so be sure to check them out!

The winner will be featured on our home page for the following month and entered into the Puffer of the Year 2010 competition!

As always, voting runs for 10 days.

Let the voting begin!

Dang, Sushi's in the lead! Heehee, I was torn between a couple...
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I'm not sure that she is a professional photographer but it really doesn't matter. Most folks here vote for the cutest pic, not the best photographed one. I'll be doing that this month. ;)

BTW, I am also a photographer & have won a few photo contests in my time (top 10 out of thousands), yet have never won a contest here.

Looks like it's a run away! Sushi is such a pretty photogenic fish though.

And, my wife is a professional photographer and she has taken some of my POTM entry pics and I have never won or come really close. It's all in the cuteness of the fish.

Julian, we need to make Sushi sleep with the fishes....;-)

Pufferpunk, I think you did win, once.. maybe? LOL

You guys shouldn't complain, Recombinantrider is a contributing member and has been for a long time. Back before we had rules about minimum posts to qualify for an entry, every month the POTM would be filled up by professional fish photographers from other forums that would never contribute here, that probably never even owned a puffer, just had super high quality equipment, talent and just entered here to have another "win" to add to their resume. Your standard fishkeeper couldn't compete with that!

And hey, just take Sushi as a challenge.. get those pictures in focus, and take LOTS OF THEM! Its those photos you didn't intend to take that show up as extra-cute or just breathtaking due to some action of the light on the water, etc. You can't exactly pose a fish!
