Hello! I just lost a small T. miurus recently. However before I could remove its body from the tank, all of my trumpet snails ate the carcass clean! There are only a few rib bones left. (I have an ABSURD number of MTS in this tank and have been trying to control them for ages.)

My question is: if I want to add new fish, do I need to worry about the miurus having released toxins in the water when it died/was eaten?

Puffers do not release toxins into the water. I would, however, do a 100% WC & clean everything out well, to remove any ammonia that might have been released by the carcass.

Ok! Thank you so much for the quick response! It was such an icky situation and I bawled my eyes out for days. I’m finally ready to have fish in the tank again!
