Compatible? Syno. Petricolas/Spotted Congo Puffer

Post by Tankmates »

Hi all,

I have had my spotted congo for a while now and he's been happily thriving. He was at full adult size when I got him so he is about 4inches roughly. I am wondering if synodontis petricolas are compatible with him? He is in a community tank but has never harmed another fish. Of course, I would wait until the syno's are about 2-3 inches before putting them in with him, but I wonder if they are aggressive toward one another.
I would love to have these beautiful catfish as tankmates for him.

Thanks for your responses in advance,
Tankmates

If you were going to go for a Synodontis I would recommend S. Schoutedeni. Most Synodontis require a very fast water flow, and African puffers (especially T. Schoutedeni) are not the most agile swimmers. S. Schoutedeni is fine with a weaker flow though, and not very territorial as for as Synodontis species go

LOL, Schoutedeni is the Congo spotted puffer he's referring to. ;)

Yeah sorry I thought that might be confusing. Synodontis Schoutedeni is a species of Synodontis catfish, Tetraodon Schoutedeni is the spotted Congo puffer. I'm saying that the Schoutedeni catfish would be the best out of its family to be in the same tank as the Schoutedeni puffer

I would think so since they share names!

Yeah lmao. It's because they live in the same area of the Congo and were both discovered by Henri Schouteden. Similarly, there is a Tetraodon Duboisi and a Tropheus Duboisi
