Feeding DP bloodworms after the worms died?

Hello! 
New DP owner here. After a few trial and errors, I’ve finally set up a tank with three thriving DP’s. I feed them about 3-4 live bloodworms per day, while there are also multiple ramshorne snails in my tank breeding that they occasionally feed on.
I purchased my first bunch of live bloodworms about a week and a half ago and all had been going well, Until just recently. I opened my fridge today to find most of my bloodworms dead, and turned into a pale color. I change their (the bloodworm’s) water and rinse the worms once a day, and keep them in the fridge when it’s not feeding time.
1) Why are my bloodworms dying? How can I prevent this?
2) Is it safe to give my DP the bloodworms after they have died?
3) If my DP does not eat the dead bloodworm, it piles up in the bottom of my tank on the sand. Should I remove the remains from my tank or are the remains harmless?
