Transitioning from fresh to brackish to marine

Post by cds333 »

So I have just started transitioning to brackish but I cannot find a reliable site that says how to calculate how much salt to add to make 1.0xx water salanity. Coincidentally I started adding salt to treat ich, but I was going to do it anyway since they were sold from a fresh tank. I added 1 tsp of Instant Ocean per gallon for starters.

Most importantly I have read that changing salinity by more than 0.002 at once will kill the bacteria and un-cycle the tank. Is this true? If not then how much? How often? How much is safe for the puffers? (1 GSP and 1 F8)

The LFS guys told me to use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FPIZ8Y0/re ... uval Cycle because it works for both FW and SW.

Where is the best guide for how to do this for puffers?

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
