What's your favorite species of puffer?
I'm just curious about what people's favorite puffer species are. They can be FW, BW, or SW, and you don't have to have owned one. For me it's either the Tetraodon Duboisi or Tetraodon Baileyi.

Fahaka--had one who allowed tank mates for 19 years. I miss him...

Re: What's your favorite species of puffer?
I've only kept one type so I'm not sure what I'm missing. But had no regrets that my choice was a hairy puffer. Love the little guy. One of my all time favorite fish that I've ever kept. Only fish I would put above it might be a couple cichlids I have kept before.

Re: What's your favorite species of puffer?
Not sure I can pick a favorite, my fahaka was great, abei was just like a mini fahaka on speed, didn't care much for the lurkers although I love the looks of the palembang. The white spotted and blue spotted saltwater ones I had ate things I didn't want eaten. So far I really like the little schoutedeni only because I have a group and that is cooler than any solo puffer imo.
Re: What's your favorite species of puffer?
I have 4 ceylon puffers and theyre awesome... tame and soooooo cute...
Re: What's your favorite species of puffer?
Porky by a large margin. It's my favorite fish I've ever owned. If sw wasnt such a pain and expensive I would get another.

Re: What's your favorite species of puffer?
Now that Ive owned a hairy and arrowhead I would say the Hairy is still my favorite just due to its activity level. Im sure if I ever had the chance to get a Fahaka or Mbu, Im sure my answer would change to one of those.
IF I ever did salt I know I would totally love a Porcupine puffer. Saw one at the fish store and it was just a ton of fun interacting with the thing and it wasnt even mine or knew me that well.

Re: What's your favorite species of puffer?
Maybe you got a defective one? lol
If I would have started with an Arrowhead I think I would never have bought another puffer. That thing is pretty elusive and sits like a rock. It was doing the twitchy dance when I put a crab in there the other day but would not go at it. I had to push the food into its face and then it grabbed it. My hairy will actually chase and hunt down food and always comes out when I come into the room.

Its probably still settling in. It took awhile for my old suvatti to come around, but was pretty interactive with me...maybe too interactive. It bit a v into my finger tip.DMD123 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 5:55 pmMaybe you got a defective one? lol

Re: What's your favorite species of puffer?
Well the Suvattii is getting comfortable. I threw a crab in last night and it came out of the sand and swam up and caught it as it was falling to eat it. Previous to this it would just wait till the food came to it.
The Baileyi was never a digger so it ‘seemed’ more outgoing since it sat in the open but I guess it was a bit shy too at the beginning. I remember it having a voracious appetite when it was younger too.
