Hey Guys
Has anyone collected crabs from the sea to feed to their puffer?
If I were to do so is it best to freeze them for a week so as to hopefully kill any bacteria etc.
How do you kill them? I'm thinking it maybe cruel to freeze them alive, Should I just cut through the front of their head?
Thanks

yeah you gotta freeze. To tell the truth I would not have the heart to kill them. I can handle watching (out of the corner of my eye) my puffers kill something like and earth worm or snail, but I can't just kill something and freeze...I am such a baby sometimes.
Don't tell anyone but when I want to feed crab...I wait till I see crab legs on sale then I take home and freeze.

I was actually thinking about this myself. Where I live at in the suburbs of Houston is a 5 min drive from a bay that feeds into the gulf of Mexico and am quite experienced with the old chicken leg on a string crabbing method. I think this would save a TON of money long run in food costs for puffers.
