ideas for a 10gal?

Post by puffer_addict »

I am planning to set up my old 10gal but not sure what i should do with it? Its a simple set up right now. Painted the back black, using a whisper 10 and 50watt heater.
Some ideas that i got kicking around are:
-Planted tank with some cherry shrimp
-Planted tank with neon tetras
-Sw tank with a pair of clown fish

any idea guys?

Shrimp... duh! But don't limit yourself to cherries - there are lots of other Neocardinias that are easy- to moderate-care. Yellow, blue pearl, dark green, and snowball come to mind. :D You would have to pick just one, though - you don't want them interbreeding.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Planted tank with 2 dp's?
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

I would stay away from a reef tank that small unless you already have a good bit of experience with them. Even a couple clowns is pushing it IMHO. I do think a heavily planted tank with inverts or a few small fish (tetras) would be cool. One of my favorite tanks I've had was a planted 20long with a danio school. If you balance it properly, that type of tank can be incredibly low maintenance as well.

For sure. I bought one, the shop clerk telling me it was a silver dollar. One month later, it out grew the 10 gal. A month later, too big for the 29g. 6 mos. later, it's creating tidal waves in a 65g. They should not sell Pacu's....They get bigger than a manhole cover....
